Seattle Emergency Communication Hubs support neighbors in case of disaster

Since 2008, the Seattle Emergency Communication Hubs have steadily grown throughout the city’s neighborhoods, currently over 130 sites. Volunteers with various skills, from radio communications to mental health counselors, gather a few times a year for a drill. They set up a hub site and practice an emergency scenario with the help of community members playing the part of neighbors in need. 

The next drill will be in North Capitol Hill on August 24th from 2:30 - 5:30 p.m. If you are interested in volunteering or want to know more about the Seattle Emergency Communication Hubs, visit their website at seattleemergencyhubs.org.
