7/21/20252:35:15

This public forum, held at the Library Building at North Seattle College, and moderated by Unified Outreach's Ed Dumas and April Goode, provides an opportunity for the community to ask questions and learn more about six nominees selected by current city councilmembers for the Seattle City Council District 5 vacancy.

After looking at a pool of 22 candidates, councilmembers voted to move forward with six finalists, listed in alphabetical order by last name:
1. James Bourey
2. Katy M Haima
3. Nilu Jenks
4. Debora Juarez
5. Julie Kang
6. Robert D. Wilson

Each of the finalists is required to participate in the public forum and in a July 22 Special Council Meeting in order to move forward in the process to fill the Council vacancy.

The vacant position was created when former Seattle City Councilmember Cathy Moore resigned from her council seat in early July. Seattle is divided into seven Council Districts, with one councilmember representing each district, and two citywide positions. The vacant slot represents District 5 which includes Bitter Lake, Broadview, Cedar Park, Crown Hill, Greenwood, Haller Lake, Lake City, Licton Springs, Little Brook, Maple Leaf, Matthews Beach, Meadowbrook, North Park, Northgate, Olympic Hills, Pinehurst, and Victory Heights
