Arts education now. Innovative minds tomorrow.About The Creative Advantage Online Arts
The Creative Advantage is a city-wide initiative to establish equitable access to arts education for each and every student in Seattle Public Schools. Creative Advantage Online Arts (CAOA) was created in response to COVID-19 to support students and families during school closures, as well as teaching artists who were contracted to lead school day residencies. Lessons focus on a variety of skills and techniques as well as ways to practice 21st Century Skills (Collaboration, Communication, Creative + Critical Thinking, Growth Mindset + Perseverance) in art-making.Teaching artist Sumayya E. Diop shares her passion for dance, drum, and song through this traditional West African call-and-response song and dance Che Che Koolay. This video, the third in the series, includes warm-up exercises for the body and voice. This lesson is great for learners of all ages, particularly youth grades K-8.
The Creative Advantage Online Arts video series is created by The Creative Advantage in collaboration with teaching artists and organizations on our Community Arts Partner Roster, Seattle Public Schools, and production partners NFFTY / The Talented Youth, NW Film Forum, and Reel Grrls Pro.
