Tim Burgess served as mayor of the city of Seattle in 2017. Bruce Harrell was first appointed mayor of the city of Seattle after Edward Murray left office in September 2017. Tim Burgess was then appointed mayor by the Seattle City Council to serve the remainder of the mayoral term after Harrell declined in order to continue serving on Council.

Mayor Tim Burgess and members of the Seattle City Council release a proposal to implement Mandatory Housing Affordability (MHA) requirements on new development across Seattle that will meet the City's goal of at least 6000 new rent-restricted homes for low-income people over the next decade.
