Seattle celebrates next generation of leaders through SYEP

The Seattle Youth Employment Program (SYEP) wrapped up its 2025 cohort this week with an awards ceremony at the Seattle Aquarium and a capstone event honoring the accomplishments of 262 interns, ages 16 to 24. Participants gained hands-on experience in City departments, nonprofits, and local businesses, contributing to meaningful projects that made an impact in the community. SYEP Director Elijah Warren emphasized the value of the program, noting that “young people are our untapped resource that needs to be tapped in.”

For more than 50 years, SYEP has provided pathways for youth to build job skills, gain experience, and explore career opportunities.
