Mechanics on the move: Keeping Seattle’s water flowing from the backcountry
CityStream: City Fleet Mechanics Help Residents Receive a Vital Resource
8/20/20246:26

The city of Seattle’s vehicle fleet is 4,000 strong, and not all operate inside the city. We follow two fleet mechanics who help Seattle Public Utility crews in the backcountry get water to the city. They've got a wealth of experience, know how to repair many types of vehicles, and keep the environment in mind when they work. Producer Ian Devier has their story.

The Cedar River and Tolt River Watersheds depicted in this video are carefully managed by Seattle Public Utilities to support and supply clean Seattle Water – Pure from the start – to 1.6 million people in the region. The protected watersheds cover nearly 100,000 acres, host a rich diversity of plants, animals, and habitats, and are owned by the City of Seattle.
