Brian Callanan is a five-time Emmy winner who currently serves as a host, producer, and moderator for the Seattle Channel, where he's worked since 2011. His career in broadcast journalism began in 1995, and includes an 11-year stint as a reporter and anchor for Q13 News. The Seattle City Council's new $8.9 billion budget includes an 0.1% increase in sales tax, plus an overhauled business and occupation tax system. What will that mean for Seattle residents and businesses, and why is the Council already looking at a deficit in 2027? Plus, can a new regulation regarding supermarkets in Seattle help prevent the problem of "food deserts"? Councilmembers Dan Strauss and Debora Juarez are discussing these issues and the questions you're sending in, too, with host Brian Callanan on City Inside/Out: Council Edition.
